Full Itinerary

Day 1: OSLO – MYRDAL – FLÅM
Depart Oslo by train and cross the rugged Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau. Change train at Myrdal and enter the famous Flåm Railway. This railway has been ranked as one of the top 20 train rides in the world and is one of the world’s steepest railway lines on normal gauge. The twisting tunnels that spiral in and out of the mountain are manifestations of the most daring and skillful engineering in Norwegian railway history. On the 20km train ride, see rivers that cut through deep ravines, waterfalls cascade down the side of steep, snow-capped mountains and mountain farms that cling to sheer slopes. Arrive Flåm, beautifully situated at the end of the Aurlandsfjord. The Norwegian fjord landscape is considered to be one of the most spectacular sceneries in the world.

Day 2:  FLÅM – BERGEN
Depart Flåm by fjord ferry. Cruise through the Nærøyfjord, considered to be among the most scenically outstanding fjord areas in the world, and is included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Surrounded by towering mountains up to 1700m high, this arm of the Sognefjord is amazingly beautiful. Once you arrive in Bergen what remains of the day will be at your leisure.

Alternative winter itinerary for Day 2: Applicable 1 Nov – 31 Mar
Depart Flåm by fjord ferry bound for Gudvangen. Cruise through the Nærøyfjord, considered to be among the most scenically outstanding fjord areas in the world, and is included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Surrounded by towering mountains up to 1700m high, this arm of the Sognefjord is amazingly beautiful. Arrive in Gudvangen and then board the bus to Voss from where you will take a train to Bergen.

Day 3:  BERGEN
Due to its location, Bergen is often called “the Gateway to the Fjords”. Bergen Hop-on Hop-off bus tour: a hop-on hop-off bus tour is the perfect do-it-yourself excursion while in Bergen. It is a convenient way to travel around the city – Hop On and Hop Off as much as you like at any of the bus stops on the route and see all the best sights and attractions that Bergen has to offer. Some of the most popular attractions include the Funicular, Aquarium, the Hanseatic Museum and, as the birthplace of the hugely popular composer Edward Grieg, the Edward Grieg Museum which receives thousands of visitors from all over the world. Even the local Tourist Information Centre is an attraction in its own right– housed in The old Bergen Exchange, built in 1862 and containing the famous Fresco Hall with murals painted by Axel Revoid that have been long recognised as a national treasure.

Alternative winter itinerary for Day 3: Applicable 1 Nov – 31 Mar
Day at leisure in Bergen, “the Gateway to the Fjords”, which offers many interesting sites to explore, including even the local Tourist Information Centre as the building it’s housed in contains some treasured art.

Day 4:  BERGEN – OSLO
Depart Bergen by train and travel through a breath-taking landscape with a constantly changing panorama of sky-high mountains, thundering waterfalls and green pastures at the bottom of the valleys. Afternoon arrival in Oslo. Balance of day at leisure. Explore the main street, Karl Johans Gate which leads past shops and hotels, parks and monuments to the Royal Palace.

Day 5:  OSLO
Check out from your hotel. Own transfer to the airport. (B)
