ITINERARY
Surrounded by Lapland’s natural beauty Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is situated in the vicinity of Urho Kekkonen National Park. The resort offers 31 cosy first-class log cabins in Lapland. Kakslauttanen is home to the famous Igloo Village with unique Glass and Snow Igloos. This is a great place for a romantic retreat or a family winter holiday.
Day 1: Ivalo – Kakslauttanen
After arrival at Ivalo Airport you will be transferred to Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort which will take approximately 40 minutes. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure. Your accommodation for tonight is a little un-usual; the glass igloo provides a one of a kind opportunity to admire the northern lights and the millions of stars in the crystal clear sky in comfort. Built from special thermal glass the temperature inside the igloo always stays warm and the glass has also been specially made to prevent it from getting frosted over keeping the view clear even when the temperature outside drops to under 30 degrees. Every igloo is equipped with a toilet and luxury beds.

Day 2: Kakslauttanen – Saariselkä – Kakslauttanen
After breakfast enjoy you will get to enjoy a two hour snowmobile safari. The snowmobile safari takes you to the small ski village of Saariselkä situated approximately ten kilometers away. You will be transferred by private vehicle from the hotel to the safari office. At the safari office you will receive all required equipment such as thermal suit, boots, socks, gloves, balaclava and a helmet. Then you will be given instructions on how to handle the snowmobile. When everybody is ready the safari trail begins with a drive up to the beautiful Kaunispää fell, 436m above sea level. At the top of the fell you can enjoy the magnificent views of the area below. The trail then continues through the beautiful and mystical forest as you get a taste of Finnish Lapland. The format for the tour will be two persons per snowmobile. This safari excursion is two hours long and includes an en-route coffee break.

Day 3: Kakslauttanen
After breakfast, enjoy a full day cross-country skiing in the beautiful Urho Kekkonen National Park. Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is ideally situated for cross-country skiing. The entire Saariselkä area has a combined trail distance of over 200kms and there are varying degrees of trails from family ones to competition and technique trails, to nature trails and illuminated trails. The illuminated trail passes by the hotel and is open from 06h00 – 22h00h every day, not even heavy snowfall during the night can deter it’s opening early in the morning.

After a leisurely breakfast the rest of this day will be at your leisure. You could relax in the warmth inside, or you could enjoy one of the many optional winter activities on offer.
