Full Itinerary

Tromsø is known as the Gateway to the Arctic. It is located in the middle of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) zone and is therefore one of the best places in the world to observe this phenomenon. Beautiful sky is however not all the natural beauty this Arctic city has to offer as it is surrounded by the picturesque panorama of the Lyngen Alps, blue fjords and hundreds of islands.

Day 1:  Tromsø
On arrival at Tromsø Airport you will make your own way to the hotel. The remainder of the day will then be at your leisure to begin exploring all that Tromsø has to offer.

Day 2:  Tromsø
The day will be entirely at your leisure to explore Tromsø. Some suggested sites you may wish to visit are the Polar Museum and Polaria Aquarium and Environmental Centre. Then in the evening make your own way to the Scandic Ishavshotel where you will be picked up at 19h15 by a bus for a Northern Lights chase. The bus will take you to either viewing locations that have confirmed sightings of the Aurora or spots which provide the best conditions for seeing the Lights. During the excursion, the guide will provide you with interesting information on the phenomenon such as the science behind it as well as the folklore and other interesting facts. Depending on the evening’s route there may also be a chance to visit a lavvu tent and sit around the fire roasting marshmallows.

Day 3:  Tromsø
In the morning you will have some more time at leisure to explore Tromsø. In the afternoon you will make your way to the Scandic Ishavshotel from where you will be transferred to Camp Tamok near the Lyngsfjord. You will not be at the camp for long before it will be time to depart on a roundtrip husky safari. This tour will take you into the arctic wilderness giving you a good impression of North-Norwegian nature and will provide you with a good opportunity to see the Aurora Borealis as you stray far from any city lights. The safari will then return to the camp where you spend the night
Overnight:  Camp Tamok  (BLD)

Day 4:  Tromsø
After breakfast the adventures at Camp Tamok continue with a snowmobile tour. After lunch you will then transfer back to Tromsø where you should arrive in the late afternoon. You will have to make your own way to hotel from a central location and then have what remains of the day at leisure.

Day 5:  Tromsø
All of today will again be entirely at your leisure to explore Tromsø. If you have not already done so make sure to visit the unique Arctic Cathedral, the northernmost cathedral in the world. Or perhaps book an optional reindeer safari if you enjoyed your previous two forays into the Norwegian wilderness.

Day 6:  Tromsø
After breakfast check-out of the hotel and make your own way to the airport for your departure flight.  (B)
