Full Itinerary

On this tour you will discover the capitals of Sweden and Norway, but not just the official ones as you will also get to know the winter capitals of these countries. This tour is the ideal combination for those of you that like to combine the luxurious and cultural life of a metropolis with adventure and stunning landscape. Start in Stockholm, one of the world’s most beautiful capitals, and travel from there to Sweden’s cool winter hot spot, the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. The next and final stop will be Tromsø, the winter “capital” of Norway.

Day 1:  Stockholm
On arrival in Stockholm make your own way to the hotel. Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, bursts of life and movement. The city is built on 14 islands all part of an archipelago. Sweden’s Capital is charming, vibrant and surrounded by beauty and water, hence its nickname, Venice of the North. Stockholm city has an abundance of charm, history and tradition which means that this urban and trendy city can still impress you with its interesting museums and castles. Explore Stockholm at your leisure for the remainder of the day.

Day 2:  Stockholm – Kiruna  
After breakfast you have the majority of the day at leisure to continue exploring all the historic and cultural wealth that Stockholm has to offer. In the late afternoon or early evening (specific time can only be given at time of booking confirmation) you will then make your way to the train station to take the overnight train to Kiruna.

Day 3:  Kiruna – Jukkasjärvi  
On arrival in Kiruna you will be transferred from the train station to the world famous Icehotel in Jukkasjarvi. Here you will have the rest of the day at your leisure. You could perhaps join one of the many exciting winter activities that the Icehotel has to offer. Tonight you spend the night in one of the ice rooms, which are very comfortable and spacious. Despite your special bed being made of snow and ice, and the low minus 5 degree ambient temperature, you will get a good night’s rest thanks to the thermal sleeping bag you’ll be using and the warmth of the reindeer skins covering the ice-bed.

Day 4:  Jukkasjärvi  
In the morning you will be awakened with a cup of hot lingonberry juice at your bedside. A morning session in the sauna is included. After breakfast the rest of your day will be at leisure to explore more of your beautiful surroundings and the many activities on offer at the Icehotel. Tonight your accommodations will be much warmer as you will be moved to a standard Kaamos room.

Day 5:  Jukkasjärvi – Kiruna – Narvik – Tromsø  
After breakfast you will be transferred to Kiruna train station. Today you will cross the border into Norway on the train to Narvik. During this scenic trip you will pass Abisko National Park, the last wilderness of Europe, as well as Mount Kebnekaise. In Narvik you will catch the bus to Tromsø, the ‘Paris of the North’. This bus will drop you at a central location a short distance from your hotel. There will be a light evening buffet meal as well as afternoon treats.

Day 6:  Tromsø
Today you have the entire day at leisure to discover all that the city also known as the Gateway to the Arctic has to offer. Tromsø boasts to be one of the best places to see the Northern Lights with apparently the most frequent sightings of this phenomenon in the world. It is the largest city in the Nordic countries north of the Arctic Circle and is home to the world’s northernmost university, brewery and cathedral. The city offers a wealth of interesting places and activities that you can fill your day with, such as the Arctic Cathedral and the Polaria Aquarium and Environmental Centre to name just two.

Day 7:  Tromsø
After breakfast at the hotel the tour ends and you will be picked up for a private transfer to the airport.  (B)
