Full Itinerary

Day 1:  ARRIVAL
On arrival at Kittilä airport you will be transferred to either Harrinivia Holiday Centre or Hotel Jeris (approximately 1 hour away). Later get together with the other tour participants and enjoy a welcome dinner at the restaurant.

Day 2:  REINDEER
After breakfast the guide will drive you up to the 100 year old, traditional reindeer farm Torassieppi (approximately 20 minutes). Here you have a chance to get a glimpse of the life in earlier days when visiting the old Lappish farm house. The guide will tell you all about life with the reindeer and will teach you how to throw a Lappish lasso. Then you can test your skill at handling some reindeers on the approximately 7km long reindeer safari through the forest (1-2 persons per sled). Lunch will be served around an open fire during the safari. In the afternoon return to the hotel.

Day 3:  SNOWMOBILE
Today it’s time to speed things up a bit. After thorough instructions about safety and driving a snowmobile you will depart on the snowmobile safari. (2 persons per snowmobile, although one can pay a supplement to have a snowmobile all to oneself). Driving a snowmobile is surprisingly easy even for beginners and soon you will be speeding through the snow covered forests and over the frozen lakes admiring the vast wilderness of Finnish Lapland. Lunch will be prepared by an open fire in the wilderness. The duration of the entire excursion will be approximately 5 hours and will cover a distance of about 60-80 km. In the afternoon return to the hotel.

Day 4: INTO THE WILDERNESS WITH HUSKIES
After breakfast pack for your overnight husky safari and check out of the hotel (Excess luggage can still be stored at the hotel). The guide will take you to the Harriniva Arctic Sled Dog Centre which is home to nearly 400 huskies. Here you get to hear all about the life of these arctic dogs. The husky guide will teach you how to handle the sled and you will meet your own team of 4-5 dogs that will accompany you for the next two days. Each person drives his/her own sled. Lunch will be served around a fire along the trail. Driving distance today is about 25 km. In the afternoon you will arrive at your wilderness cabin, where you can test your wilderness skills by making a fire, feeding the huskies and heating the lakeside sauna. Overnight in the cabin with shared facilities.

Day 5:  RETURN JOURNEY WITH HUSKIES
You start in the morning from the cabin and continue the husky safari for approximately 25 to 30 km through the astonishing arctic winter scenery. Lunch will again be served around an open fire before you return to the hotel and check in again in the afternoon.

Day 6 – Day 7:  TWO DAYS AT LEISURE
The next two days are completely at your leisure. On one you could use the included snowshoe or cross-country skiing equipment rental and discover the surrounding nature. Or book additional optional activities on the spot. Lunch on each day will be served in the restaurant. On the second day’s evening there will be a special farewell dinner offering various Lappish cuisines.

Day 8:  DEPARTURE
After breakfast you will be transferred to Kittilä airport.  (B)

Note: The above single supplement is for a 3rd person wanting to stay in a single room and includes single use of a snowmobile. This tour does not operate for single travellers.
The price for accommodation during 19 Dec 2020 – 1 Jan 2021 includes supplements for Christmas or new year’s special dinners.
This tour is only suitable for persons older than 18 years of age.
Accommodations in cabins available at a supplement depending on size of group.
