Full Itinerary

Jeris Hotel and cabin village is situated at the shore of Lake Jeris surrounded by magical winter forests, and next to the Pallas National Park. A short walk on the lake will show you the magnificent views of the fells of the National Park. Huskies, reindeers, snowmobiles, snowshoes & cross-country skis with lunches around open campfires, in kotas and the ice restaurant are all part of the package. And once you’re done with the outside you can take some time to relax in the arctic Spa with excellent views straight from the warm indoor pools, traditional saunas and a natural ice pool.

DAY 1:  ARRIVAL
You will arrive at Kittilä airport and be transferred to Hotel Jeris (approximately 45min). What remains of the day will be at your leisure and dinner tonight will be in the hotel’s restaurant.

DAY 2:  HUSKY ADVENTURE
You will be transferred to the local husky farm. Here you will have a chance to meet the dogs and enjoy a short tour of the farm before setting out on a 15km safari (two persons per sled). Lunch will be served back in the hotel restaurant. In the afternoon the guide will tell you more about the fascinating phenomenon of the northern lights, and the science & myths behind them.

DAY 3:  SNOW SHOES, ICE-FISHING AND THE AURORA SNOW TRAIN
After breakfast at the hotel you will experience what it is like to walk around in snowshoes, one of the oldest modes of Lapland transportation. Lunch will be served in the hotel’s restaurant. In the afternoon you will be taken to the lake so you can try your hand at some ice-fishing.  Later return to the hotel and enjoy a warm sauna before dinner. In the evening it will be time for a special highlight and the most recent addition to to this tour, an excursion on the Aurora Snow Train. You will try to catch a glimpse of Scanidanvia’s most famous natural phenomenon from the warmth and comfort of a heated carriage. Along the way a stop will be made for drinks and a snack around an open fire.

DAY 4:  TORASSIEPPI WINTER VILLAGE AND REINDEER
Today’s activities begin with a 10 minute bus transfer to Torassieppi Reindeer Farm. Visit a one of the oldest reindeer farms in Finland complete with unique Lappish farmhouse and a small reindeer museum. Try your reindeer herder skills in lasso-throwing and by taking a 3km reindeer safari in the forest next to Pallas-Ylläs national park with a reindeer sled. Then take a short walk to the winter village with its ice restaurant, bar and sculptures. Lunch will be served in the ice restaurant, however as this experience is weather-dependent it may be replaced with lunch in a traditional Finish tent (a Kota). Thereafter transfer by bus back to the hotel.

DAY 5:  SNOWMOBILE ADVENTURE
This morning after breakfast you will get a taste of cross-country skiing. The ski tracks start right next to the hotel where the guide will teach you all the basics. Lunch will be served in the restaurant. In the afternoon you will meet the guide responsible for your snowmobile safari who will give you instructions on how to correctly handle the snowmobile and all the various safety regulations you have to observe. Then the adventure begins as you drive through snow covered forests, over frozen lakes and swamps, so basically through perfect fell scenery. The tour will cover approximately 30km and requires two persons to share a snowmobile (unless a single driver supplement is paid).

DAY 6 – DAY 7:  TWO DAYS AT LEISURE
These next two days will be entirely at your leisure. You can relax at the hotel grounds; you could rent snowshoes or or skis to have another go at those experiences; or venture out to either Muonio or Levi for the day. Lunch on each day will be served in the hotel restaurant or you can opt to have a packed lunch box to take out with you. If you kept in reserve do not forget to make use of your one complimentary to the upgraded Artic Sauna World to complete your Scandinavian experience. On the evening of the second leisure day there will be a special Lappish dinner at the hotel restaurant.

DAY 8:  DEPARTURE
After breakfast at the hotel you will be transferred to Kittilä airport.  (B)
