RED SEA GETAWAY
Egypt’s Red Sea coast runs from the Gulf of Suez to the Sudanese border. Its mineral-rich red mountain ranges inspired the mariners of antiquity to name the sea “Mare Rostrum” or the Red Sea. The Red Sea is comparatively sheltered and calm; its currents are gentle and regular, its tides almost non-existent and its temperature warm and steady. It is dotted with pristine beaches and coral reefs; fringed by ancient ports teeming with underwater life and a rich maritime history which stretches back to Pharaonic times. Sunbathers can relax on white sandy beaches or find shade in the mangrove lagoons that line the coast while snorkelers explore the reefs. The underwater wonder of the Red Sea remains a living tapestry of vibrant coral and exotic fish, waiting for you to discover its secrets. Thousands of migrating birds are attracted to the Red Sea shores, making it a paradise for bird-watchers. If you just want to relax, love the sun or would like to get your feet wet… choose a Red Sea getaway!
HURGHADA
Hurghada has developed from a remote fishing village to one of the most vibrant and lively beachside resort towns of the Red Sea Riviera. Enjoy the sun and fun of the beach resorts and indulge at one of the many restaurants that line the main promenade. Visit the museum and aquarium with their complete collections of flora and fauna of the Red Sea. The unique underwater gardens are some of the finest in the world and famous amongst divers. The warm waters are ideal for many varieties of rare fish and coral reefs, which can also be observed through glass bottom boats. Hurghada also offers the perfect sports holiday; kite surfing, windsurfing, sailing, deep-sea fishing and swimming. Hurghada is divided into the two districts: El Dahar, the old town with its souks, fishermen hangouts and local shops which adds a taste of real Egyptian life. Sekala, the tourist area born around the old harbour, is a hive of action with hotels, shops, shopping centres, cinemas, clubs and restaurants – a vibrant holiday hub where everything is open until late.
