Full Itinerary

DAY 1:  AMMAN
You will arrive at Amman Airport and be transferred to your hotel.
Overnight: Amman  (D)

DAY 2:  AMMAN
Your first day in Jordan begins with a morning city tour of Amman, taking in the old and new parts. Visit the old Roman Amphitheatre, the Citadel with the museums, the mosques and the historical sites in Amman. Then explore some of the city’s surroundings before returning and having the rest of the day at your leisure. Tonight there will be a special Kan Zaman dinner.

DAY 3:  AMMAN – DEAD SEA – PELLA – UM QAIS – AMMAN
Today you will explore the surroundings of Amman a little more, this time venturing out further. Frist travel to the 400m below sea level the Dead Sea finds itself at. There you will be able to experience an unforgettable “swim” in the salt-laden water. From there the tour continues north to Pella in the Jordan Valley, exceptionally rich in antiquities. The final stop before returning to Amman will be at Um Qais (Gedara), which commands a magnificent view over the Sea of Galilee, the Yarmouk River and the Golan Heights.

DAY 4: AMMAN – JERASH – AJLOUN – AMMAN
The morning will be at your leisure in then in the afternoon you will depart to Jerash, home to the best example of Roman civilization Jordan has to offer. Jerash was part of the Decapolis (the ten big Roman cities of the Middle East) and has been called the Pompeii of the East for its unique state of preservation. The city features theatres, churches, temples (Zeus and Artemis), a Nymphaeum and colonnaded streets. From there the tour proceeds to the Castle at Ajloun, a splendid sight with a fascinating warren of towers, chambers, galleries and staircases. Its hilltop position offers stunning views of the Jordan Valley. Thereafter you will return to Amman.

DAY 5:  AMMAN – MADABA – MT. NEBO – KERAK – PETRA
Transfer to Petra via the Kings Highway, winding its way through the forested highlands, open farmland plateaus, deep ravines and the edge of the eastern desert. En-route you will visit Madaba known in the Bible as the “Moabite town of Medaba”, famous for the mosaic map of the Holy Land in the Church of St. George. The next stop will be at Mt. Nebo, the site where Moses reportedly died, and from where one can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view across the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. The tour will continue south through the breath-taking scenery of Wadi Mujib and make another stop at the Castle at Kerak, an ancient Crusader stronghold, inside the walls of the old city. Thereafter you will travel to the day’s final destination, Wadi Mousa, the modern village of Petra.

DAY 6:  PETRA
Today will likely be the highlight of the tour as you travel to the historic site Jordan is best known for, the “rose-red city half as old as time”, the lost Nabatean city of Petra. Petra was carved from the dramatic mountains of south Jordan. The Treasury (El Khazneh) is one of the most elegant remains of antiquity. View the hundreds of ancient temples, royal tombs, Roman theatres and houses beyond the Treasury. Thereafter you will return to Wadi Mousa.

DAY 7:  WADI RUM – AMMAN
On your final full day you will discover Wadi Rum, with its pastel-colored sand dunes, towering mountains, mysterious ancient graffiti, overwhelming serenity and quiet ambiance. Enjoy mint-tea or cardamom coffee before a tour of this moon-like landscaped desert in a jeep. Thereafter you will return to Amman via the Desert Highway.

DAY 8:  AMMAN
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Amman Airport.  (B)
