Full Itinerary

DAY 1:  OSLO – KIRKENES
Flight Oslo to Kirkenes.  Make your way to the Hurtigruten quay for embarkation.  From Kirkenes, the ship hugs the coast as it visits the remote settlements it continues to serve more than a century after the Hurtigruten was created.  Relax on board and enjoy the majestic scenery along the coastline as you sail from the sparse northern landscapes, deep within the Arctic Circle, to the populated, lush southern regions of the fjord-filled coast.
Overnight: Hurtigruten (D)

DAY 2:  NORTH CAPE – HAMMERFEST – TROMSØ
Early morning arrival in Honningsvåg, join an all-encompassing excursion (May – Sep) that combines wildlife, culture, spectacular and unusual scenery and a visit to the top of the world – the North Cape.  Drive through impressive scenery to the North Cape Hall, enjoy breakfast and view a spectacular panorama film about North Cape and the region.  On your return to Honningsvåg, drive through an underwater tunnel connecting the town with the mainland.  Rejoin the ship at Hammerfest, the world’s most northerly town.   After crossing open water, the ship calls at the old trading post of Skjervøy before arriving in Tromsø for the night.  (Optional excursion:  8C)
Overnight: Hurtigruten  (BLD)

DAY 3:  LOFOTEN ISLANDS – TROLLFJORD
Passing through the legendary Lofoten Islands, the ship meanders gently through this stunning network of inlets of isles.  We reach the highlight of the voyage for many, a possible detour into the spectacular Trollfjord.  As you venture into this dramatic fjord, stand in awe of the Captain’s prowess and skills of navigation, for the sheer sides of the cliffs seem close enough to touch.   Sailing through the beautiful, mountainous island chains, rising to 1000m in places, see fishermen’s cabins built on stilts along the waterfront and a variety of seabirds including puffins, kittiwakes, cormorants and sea eagles.  This remarkable day is completed with an evening return to Svolvær and a farewell to the islands at Stamsund.  (Optional excursions:  9A, 9B, 9C, 9D, 9E)
Overnight: Hurtigruten (BLD)

DAY 4:  ARCTIC CIRCLE
There is further excitement today as the ship crosses the Arctic Circle. Sailing past the famed peaks of the dancing Seven Sisters mountain range, folklore merges with the facts of nature – look out for Torghatten, which still bears the hole made by Hestmannen’s arrow in one of Norway’s popular legends. The award-winning maritime museum at Rørvik celebrates the important part the sea has played in defining today’s Norway.  (Optional excursion:  10B)  Overnight: Hurtigruten (BLD)

DAY 5:  TRONDHEIM – KRISTIANSUND – MOLDE
An early arrival in the fascinating medieval city of Trondheim. The voyage continues out of the Trondheimsfjord, past Hitra Island, with brief calls at Kristiansund and Molde, known as the City of Roses and surrounded by 87 snow-capped mountains, before the midnight call at Ålesund.  (Optional excursions: 11A, 11B, 11C)
Overnight:  Hurtigruten  (BLD)

DAY 6:  BERGEN
The landscape becomes increasingly lush as the journey weaves through the islets and beautiful Bergen comes into view. Before long it’s time to say good-bye to the ship and “på gjensyn” (‘until we meet again’) to friends, fellow passengers and our crew, as we disembark from our magnificent journey on the Norwegian Coastal Voyage.  (Optional excursion:  12A)  Make your way to your hotel.
Overnight:  Bergen  (BL)

DAY 7:  BERGEN – OSLO
Enjoy a scenic train journey to Oslo, travel across the Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau, often referred to as the “Roof of Norway”.  (B)
