Day 2: ROVANIEMI
You will have some time at leisure after breakfast and then around midday you will be transferred to a hunting cabin in the middle of the forest. This will be the starting point for your snowmobile safari but before you set off you will first be given some handling instructions and safety precautions to observe. The distance of the safari will be approximately 15-20km and last around 2.5hours. The safari will take you across the frozen Lehtojärvi lake and continues through bogs and forests. Around the half-way point a stop at a cabin will be made where you can warm yourself by the fire and enjoy some hot juice, sausages and cookies around the fire. The format will be two persons per snowmobile with a changeover at the halfway point. Thereafter you will return to the village.
Overnight: Rovaniemi (BD)
Day 3: ROVANIEMI
Today you will again set out and explore your surrounding but this time trading in the cold hard lifeless snowmobile for a sled powered by a team of lovable energetic huskies. After a short drive you will arrive at the husky farm where the friendly dogs Lapland is known for will greet you with their enthusiastic barks. You will be given some instructions on how to handle a sled and then set off, 2 persons per sled. Your adventure will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes after which you will return to the farm and enjoy some hot juice around an open fire whilst the head musher tells you a little more about life with these amazing northern animals. Thereafter you will transfer back to the village and what remains of the day will be at your leisure.
Day 4: ROVANIEMI
After breakfast you will have the day itself at your leisure. There are many activities you could optionally book or you could simply explore the Lappish outdoors on your own. In the evening however you will hopefully experience something which should be virtually synonymous with a visit to the North, the Aurora Borealis. You will be driven out to seemingly the middle of nowhere as the further away from the lights of civilisation you are the better your chances of seeing this phenomenon. You will walk down to the river to a spot which has the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Whilst you wait for the Aurora to make an appearance you will fry some sausages whilst keeping warm around a campfire. From there you will then travel to ‘Poro-Pekan-Pirrti’, a cosy old historically maintained building giving you a glimpse into life in Lapland 100 years ago and allowing you to warm up. From there you will then transfer back to the hotel.
Day 5: ROVANIEMI
After breakfast your tour will have come to an end and you will be transferred from the hotel to the airport. (B)
