Our CSI Projects

At Inspirations Travel & Tours, we believe what we take out of tourism we must put back.
That is why we drive the following three pillars of our Corporate Social Initiatives:

• People & Communities    • Wildlife    • Environment

We support the following credible organizations and their philanthropic,
wildlife and environmental campaigns within South Africa.

PEOPLE AND COMMUNITIES

World Vision Logo

World Vision is a global Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

World Vision serves all people, regardless of religion, races, ethnicity, or gender, they currently operate in 100 countries and has built a substantial experience base and competency in both development and emergency aid, impacting the lives of over 200 million vulnerable children by tackling the root causes of poverty.

World vision South Africa is inspired to see no child without health, without child protection, without education, without future employment.

They impact the most vulnerable children by identifying fragile and poverty stricken areas. An initial assessment is conducted in these areas and together with the community and community leaders, the highest priorities to bring about transformational development are determined. An implementation programme is then crafted which impacts directly on the children and the community in which they live.

World Vision South Africa was founded in 1967. they are committed to operate with funding from South Africa for South Africa and currently impact some 320 000 lives in 11 area programmes in 6 provinces.

Their work is funded through Child Sponsors as well as Individual and Corporate Development Partners, World Vision South Africa is a member of the World Vision Global Partnership, founded in the 1950s. This gives them access to an immense pool of experience and capability.

WILDLIFE

Founding Statement
Project Rhino is an association of like-minded organisations, facilitating rhino conservation interventions aimed at eliminating rhino poaching and securing the white and black rhino populations of Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Project Rhino Logo

The members of Project Rhino recognise that the work in conserving and protecting rhinos from the threat of poaching is symbolic of the broader threat faced by all wildlife and that all wildlife will will benefit from the actions taken by Project Rhino. The association is also aware that the poaching of rhino is symptomatic of the overall, bigger environmental crises facing South Africa and its neighbours.

Vision
What motivates us daily is the dream of both White and Black rhino species thriving in Kwa-Zulu Natal and far beyond – forever free, forever secure from poaching, well managed and protected. Today we strive to protect the world’s last remaining African Rhino species, so that tomorrow they will still continue to play their vital role in our continent’s irreplaceable and beautiful ecosystems, contributing to an ever-growing realisation of our fundamental reliance on the natural environment (and ALL it’s element) for our very basic needs. We honour their uniqueness as one of the primary icons of Africa’s great wilderness.

Goal
Zero tolerance to rhino poaching: Continually decrease the rate of poaching every year in South Africa.

ENVIRONMENT

Food & Trees for Africa (FTFA) is a leading Section 21 Non-Profit Organisation that addresses food security, environmental sustainability and greening.
Their ethos is one of efficiency, transparency and accountability. They run their non-profit like a business and continue to innovate in the space.

This approach has led to being one of the best social development organisations on the continent. After nearly 30 years of experience, they understand what it takes to to achive real, long-term sustainability and want to make a positive difference to the lives of all South Africans.

Community Tree Planting is made up of 2 of FTFA’s flagship programmes – ‘Trees for All’ and ‘Trees for Homes’. These programmes combine well to plant trees in both shared spaces and private homes to create a healthier, more food secure environment.

Benefits of Urban Greening

  • Regenerate / rehabilitate environments
  • Provide shade, transpiration and cooling
  • provide fruit, nuts and medicine
  • Biodiversity and climate resilience
  • Give us cleaner air and healthy environment

Trees for all plants and monitors fruit and indigenous trees at:

  • Schools
  • Parks
  • Hospitals
  • Clinics
  • Aged-homes and anywhere else people will benefit from, and look after the trees.

Trees for Homes is the most successful township, greening initiative in South Africa. Originally designed to address South Africa’s history of inequitable settlement policies, the programme grew to become the country’s benchmark of innovation in urban forestry.

Which trees a household receives depends on a number of factors but FTFA will ultimately choose trees that are going to have the best survival. In some projects the community members ask for two fruit/nut trees.

Developing community foresters with training and skills is also and integral part of the programmes design. These environmental champions create threads of awareness and appreciation also have an opportunity for temporary and (potentially) long term employment.

Trees for Homes is currently driving greenbelt initiatives in a number of townships in major city center’s nationwide. They aim to transform these townships into rich urban food forests, teeming with life and biodiversity.

This programme is also registered with the Verified Carbon Standard making it possible to utilise it as a carbon offset programme.
