Itinerary:
TUESDAY: ALTA
Arrive Alta, transfer to hotel. Alta is the largest town in Finnmark with 17000 inhabitants and is located in the western part of Norway’s northernmost county. Evening husky safari. Drive your own husky team or enjoy the trip as a passenger in the beautiful landscape of Alta. Warm drinks and cake will be served before transportation back to your hotel. Conditions permitting, the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) should be visible.
Overnight: Rica Hotel Alta.
WEDNESDAY: ALTA – IGLOO ICE HOTEL
Transfer to the Igloo Ice Hotel. Each January (depending on when there is sufficient snow), the Alta Igloo Ice Hotel is constructed entirely out of snow and ice. It houses a bar, gallery, wedding chapel and several lounges all decorated with impressive ice sculptures that are beautifully lit to create a magical atmosphere. The temperature is approx. -4 to -7 degrees Celsius but reindeer hides covering the ice-beds and thermal sleeping bags will keep you snug and warm during your stay. Enjoy a snowmobile safari to the amazing Finnmarksvidda mountain plateau with its blue ice and icy-cold atmosphere. You will be given warm clothes (thermal suit, shoes, hat/helmet and gloves) and instructions for driving a snowmobile (don’t forget to bring your driver’s licence). Return to the Alta Igloo Ice Hotel. Optional mini-spa in Alta Frilufspark available where you can enjoy a refreshing and relaxing bath in an outdoor Jacuzzi (remember to bring you swimsuite). Dinner in Laksestua Restaurant.

THURSDAY: ICE HOTEL - ALTA
The Sauna is open this morning and perhaps you should try this before breakfast. Transfer from the Ice Hotel to your hotel in Alta. Enjoy a Sámi experience, travel to Boazo Sámi Siida and learn about the Sámi culture and history. Listen to the Sámi joik (chant) and stories and take part in a Sámi challenge – reindeer racing! A traditional lunch will be served before your transfer to in Alta. Overnight: Rica Hotel Alta. (BL)
