Itinerary:
DAY 1: BERGEN
Arrival Bergen, check in at hotel. Balance of day at leisure. Bergen is the capital of western Norway and it is called “the gateway to the fjords”. Bergen is the second largest city in Norway. The 900-year-old harbour city is situated between 7 mountains and has long been the most important city for trade, shipping and industry in Norway. The centre is filled with shops, restaurants and markets, some of which occupy buildings that date to the Hanseatic period of the 16th century, for instance at Bryggen, the city’s famous Hanseatic wharf. Bergen was the birthplace of Edvard Grieg, whose home has been made into a delightful museum.

DAY 2: BERGEN SIGHTSEEING
A 3-hour sightseeing tour of Bergen. We start by travelling through the centre of Bergen, through older and newer parts. Places of interest are the historic city centre with the Hanseatic docks, the Fish market and the fort. The tour continues to the open air museum Old Bergen. We drive to Troldhaugen, Edvard Grieg’s home. En route we drive onto Nattlands Mountain, one of Bergen’s best panoramic viewpoints. Balance of day at leisure.

DAY 3: BERGEN
At leisure in Bergen. One suggestion is to take a ride on the funicular railway to the top of Mount Fløien, to enjoy the view of the city and fjord below. Another possibility is a visit to the Bergen Aquarium, which offers one of the finest and most extensive collections of marine fauna in Europe.
